Service Description

This service assesses your activities of daily living within your own home to help improve or maintain your safety and independent living. This service is often used by people who have moved from a previously adapted home to a new un-adapted one, or who have a new disability or functional impairment that prevents them from using their home as they would like. Examples would be: changing a bathroom to a wet-room for wheelchair access; installing assistance rails near the bed or front door; community alarm systems to summon help; redesigning kitchens for optimum efficiency if experiencing fatigue or pain from too much movement; clearly understanding and only implementing what is meaningful and essential to your required standard of living. This is a thorough and personal assessment that covers all areas of difficulty using a sympathetic, diplomatic and discreet approach. It aims to address current home based issues, but will also discuss anticipated future difficulties that the client may not have appreciated so that they can have time to prepare or reflect upon. The price is £125 for a thorough 2 hour maximum session, but depending on level of need or complexity of environment additional time may be required but this will be discussed with you at the time so that you are clear on what is needed to make an informed decision. This price includes reasonable travel time by car of 30 mins each way. Anything outside of this will incur additional reasonable, but negotiable, costs of approximately £25 per every half hour, but again this would be agreed upon in advance.
